# MMT Motorcycle Training
MMT Motorcycle Training is the largest motorcycle training school in South Durham and Cleveland, established in 2004 by founder Mike Poad. Based in Darlington, the company has expanded from its initial three instructors to a team of twelve staff members, including ten dedicated instructors. Five of these instructors are Cardington-approved to deliver Direct Access training, enabling the school to meet diverse rider needs from beginners to experienced motorcyclists.
The school holds Honda Approved School of Motorcycling status, reflecting its commitment to quality instruction and industry standards. A key advantage is the school's proximity to the MPTC Test Centre—just ten minutes away—meaning students maximise their learning time on actual test routes rather than travelling. This strategic location also allows access to the DSA test centre itself, eliminating surprises on test day.
MMT operates five CBT training facilities, with two specifically equipped for Module 1 practice, ensuring comprehensive preparation across all training levels. Beyond rider training, MMT provides full workshop services through its in-house repair operation, managed by Graeme Ward, a factory-trained technician with over twenty years' experience. This integrated approach means customers can train, maintain and prepare their motorcycles under one roof.
The school serves aspiring riders seeking CBT certification, Direct Access qualification, and advanced training, alongside established motorcyclists requiring servicing and repairs.
